nearly 10 years experience as a researcher within the biomedical field. Through his scientific
career, Jalal has been involved in immunology, cancer and cell and molecular biology projects,
publishing several papers in internationally recognized scientific journals.
Currently, as a postdoctoral fellow at the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre and
University Health Network in Toronto, Jalal is spearheading two projects related to cancer
immunotherapy and drug discovery. In addition, he provides guidance in key areas, such as
mentoring junior lab members and proposing novel scientific ideas for grant writing.
Jalal got his career start as a master’s student in physiology, at the American University

investigated the effect of vitamin D replacement on patients with multiple sclerosis. Jalal then
moved to Montreal to pursue his Ph.D. in Biochemistry studying EGFR intracellular trafficking
in cancer cells. Meanwhile, he was hired as a teaching assistant for the second-year
undergraduate cell biology/biochemistry course and cell biology lab course for students in their
honour’s degree.
Jalal is very excited to provide guidance and help others reaching their goals through his
wide wet lab experience and teaching.
